a little overwhelmed!!!
It's been awhile since the last post! Ugh! For some reason I couldn't post at school, and would forget at home....excuses, excuses!
Well I am on my THIRD webquest now. Yes, you saw it right! I would get so far with one quest and then would have a road block of some sort. I think I am on the right track now. It is what it is and I have done my best.
My second grade concert is coming up in a couple weeks. Working hard on getting that organized, and our new class is beginning. I forgot how much I do NOT know about the structure of a computer. This will be an interesting class, since I am starting from the beginning!
Hope to talk soon! See you on the web!

It's that time again...
Well, school is up and running and progress reports are already due. It is amazing how the time runs. I was asked today to be on a technology committee for our district. I am pretty excited about that! I am using the Smart Board almost daily. I absolutely love it! (unless it doesn't work right)
I have noticed that the more I work on the computer the more confident I become to try new things. Of course I still have a long way to go but it is fun trying to get there! Until next time....

Websites everywhere!
Guess who has a website for school! Me! Yayyyy! I am so excited to be "on the web". It is not exactly how I want it but I ran out of time. I know for those who know me that is a SHOCK but I hate making decisions and I love to "play" and make things pretty. This is a short blog today because my kids are on the way to my class. I am very jealous of Leah for getting her webquest done. Good job Leah! I bet that is a weight lifted!
I will "blog" later...

These dogs are barking....
Thank goodness it's Friday! I forgot how much standing we do in a day. I have seen over 560 children this week, grades one through three. They were so excited it made me even more excited...until the day was over and I was wiped! My throat was not used to singing that much. It needs to get trained over again.
I am still wondering what I can do for my WebQuest. I have some ideas but I just need to get it organized and how I will go about implementing it.
Looking forward to seeing my classmates tomorrow. Wish we had more of those opportunities. I learn so much from there experiences and how they use technology.

Are you ready for some FOOTBALL?
It's that time of year again. School is in session! Trying to get ready for it and taking the last precious ounce of summertime to travel, has kept us busy! We took a trip to see my parents, my brother, and his girls. What fun! We had no internet connection for that week except for very brief periods of time. Ugh!
We then met Dad in Omaha and swam, visited Grandpa, Aunt Joy, Nancy, and went to the Henry Doorly Zoo! It was awesome. I haven't been there since the desert dome and it was incredible. I love how it is always evolving and expanding. They now have a chairlift across the zoo called "Skyfari". Too cool.
Then the next day everyone got up very early and went back to work, school, and meetings. Yuck! That was a long day. I was very disappointed to find out that our budget did not allow for me to have a smart board. Oh well, I will keep working on it!
It is interesting to see computers and the internet now. I feel like I am looking with a new set of eyes. RSS features, more and more surveys from SurveyMonkey, different mediums such as Power point, live streaming, video clips, podcasts, etc.
Remember the video from our first class talking about teaching children jobs that won't be available when they are in the work force. I got to see that again. Still is very interesting. I am looking forward to class next weekend but am a little worried I won't complete that Website. I will have to work fast!
Till next time...

Mind is spinning.....
It's been awhile since my last entry. It's been quite the week and I still have so much to do. We lost a great friend this past week. She's one of those kind of people who light the room with her smile. She always lived life to the fullest. She will be missed.
I am learning all about Podcasts and how they can be used. I'm still a little uneasy on how these will work in my classroom but with a little practice it should be useful.
We have a new system to grade in our district. Something else to learn. Yay! So exciting. Can't learn enough stuff right??
Until next time...

New Classes for School
Well I took 3 new classes today to help me this school year. They were Smart Board, Including Parent Involvement, and Sqooltools.com. This is another website maker that is being used in our school district. I think I will practice on this one for the Dreamweaver website. Hopefully they are somewhat the same!
Off to get the kiddos!

I have been thinking about my Webquest. Maybe I could do something on the Star Spangled Banner for the third graders. It is in their curriculum. Here's the weblink just in case.... http://americanhistory.si.edu/starspangledbanner/educational-resources.aspx

Summer Classes
Welcome to cheryl's music cafe. During the year I will be posting things about music class and what's coming up. This summer it is all about the computer. Classes that is. I have just started my master's program on Technology in the Classroom. I am in my second class and have started a Blog. Yeah! I feel so "with it".
Stay with me on my journey and please respond!
